Municipal Civil Engineer | Roadway & Highway Design
Make an impact on the transportation infrastructure that keeps communities connected and moving forward. We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a passion for roadway and highway design to support public sector clients on projects that range from urban street reconstructions to multi-jurisdictional highway corridors.
As a key contributor on our civil team, you will:
- Lead and support design for roadway and highway projects including intersection improvements, roundabouts, corridor studies, or pedestrian/bike accommodations
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates that meet municipal and state agency standards
- Coordinate with municipalities, counties, and regional DOTs (WisDOT, MnDOT) to develop sustainable, context-sensitive solutions
- Perform field investigations, geometric layout, grading and drainage design, and utility coordination
- Participate in project meetings and represent engineering concepts to clients, stakeholders, and the public
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including structural, landscape, and environmental professionals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or on track for licensure within 12 months (preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in roadway or highway design for municipal and/or DOT projects
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, MicroStation/OpenRoads, or similar roadway design platforms
- Strong understanding of design standards from agencies such as MnDOT, AASHTO, and local municipalities
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

This position offers a highly competitive compensation range of $95,000 to $130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
